Prussian 2nd Garde Uhlan NCO - Private purchase Tschapka with Carte de Visite

Exceptional find came with carte de visit inside the lining.

A Rare regiment in extremely nice overall condition. Einjahrig Freiwilliger SCHMIDTMANN.

Black lacquered leather body in excellent shape with firm stitching to visor. Laqcuer shows the usual and even age crazing. Mortar board sits perfectly with only minor lacquer "waves". Prussian fire gilt large winged Garde Eagle with the Silver NCO type Star of the order of the Black Eagle in it center. Plate sits perfectly with deep marks in the helmet shell as can be seen on the pictures. NO extra holes in helmet body.

Prussian NCO type Feldzeichen. Original Reichs Kokarde under a set of rounded chinscales maintained by split rosettes. The inside has the fancy Officers type lining with calfskin and beige Silk in mildly worn but excellent condition. This Tschapka is of full officers grade, if the OYV enlisted after his two year service (2 years for cavalry) he only had to change the star to the enameled model and upgrade the Feldzeichen and kockarde.
