Prussian Garde Grenadier Officers Pickelhaube to Parade

Old and Original Pickelhaube

Prussian Guard Grenadier Regiments Officer to Parade (black Yak hair plume) - circa 1870. Fine helmet recently purchased at an antique show in the US. The helmet shows age and use. Old style Black leather helmet body with gilt metal trim. The leather helmet body is in good condition with firm stitching. The exterior lacquer show age but has good exterior lacquer. The helmet body has an extra hole but is right appears never to have been used (see photos). The helmet interior has standard sweat leather and silk headliner that is dirty and has numerous tears (see photo).

The Inner visors are colored red and green as is proper for an officer helmet. Old Pattern crossed spike base, star retainers and squared front visor trim. The tall plume trichter is with black hair plume. The plume has been replaced with an original hair bush as the one it came with was mostly rotted off. The frontplate in the Prussian wide winged Guard Grenadier Eagle that was used in the mod 1800's. Flat gilt chinscales on rosettes. Original Prussian Officer cockade. This is an OLD original helmet that literally is out of the woodwork. We have not polished of restore it with the exception of replacing the damaged plume with another original piece. This "Old Soldier" needs some TLC. Bargain priced.
