Prussian 2nd Guard Dragoon (Honorary Empress Alexandra of Russia Regiment) - Officer - Model 1897. Recently obtained from a prestigous American collection. Heavy construction black lacquered leather helmet with silver trim. Helmet has fine form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer in excellent condition with bright sheen and no lacquer loss. No extra holes in the helmet body. Squared front visor trim and crossed spike base.

The frontplate is the silver Prussian Guards Eagle with a silver guard star with enameled center (see photo). Crossed spike base with gold star retainers. Tall smooth silver style spike that that is removable for use with a trichter and plume for parades. Interior has leather sweat band with silk headliner. The interior is in excellent condition. Rounded gold chinscales on silver rosettes with officer Reichs and Prussian cockades.

The Silver Guard Dragoon Officers helmet is quite rare. Gold Guard Dragoon Officer helmets are much more common in the marketplace. Impressive and rare Guard Dragoon officer helmet with fine Provenance.
