Elite Baden 109th Reserve Officer with Cover

Baden Leib Infantry Regiment Nr. 109 (1st Baden Regiment-Headquartered in Karlsruhe) Reserve Officer Model 1897- circa 1915 with field cover. From the Rich Ames Collection. 100% original helmet. Black lacquered leather helmet body with silver metal trim. Helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. No extra holes in the helmet body. Exterior lacquer helmet body with fine exterior sheen. No lacquer damage.

Interior has sweat leather and silk headliner that shows wear and is dirty (see photo). Inside helmet bell is an old collector’s tag indicating helmet is a reserve Baden 109 officer. Round silver spike base with spike removable for replacement with plume for parade use. Gold stars hold the spike to the leather helmet. The frontplate is the wide winged Baden Griffen with highly vaulted red enameled Baden star in the center with Reserve Cross below Star (see photos).

The enamel is in excellent condition but has a dark area on one side. The banner “Mit Gott fur Furst und Vaterland” is on the plate indicating this officer was just moved to reserve ranks. The frontplate is held to the helmet with screws. Flat gold chinscales with silver rosettes. Officer Reichs and non-serrated Baden cockade. The field cover is in excellent condition. Beautiful original and untouched helmet. Elite regiment. Rare and much sought after helmet.
