Rare Guard Rider EM helmet in near MINT condition
Saxon Garde Reiter Regiment Enlisted Mans helmet Model 1899. The helmet is in near MINT condition. Untouched and unpolished or restored. Enlisted man's style body in Tombac metal with German silver trim. The helmet body has perfect form and contour. No extra holes in the helmet body. The exterior metal has perfect sheen with no discolorations. Elliptical EM style silver spike base with removable screw style spike in Tombac. The base is mounted to helmet with silver domed screw retainers.
The helmet has M1894 Lobstertail style form with M94 side lugs for the mounting of chinscales. Special rounded chinscales over side lugs over large style Reichs and Saxon cockades. The front plate is a large silver star with the center Royal Arms of Saxony device in gold. The interior of the helmet has a black dyed leather liner that is complete and still supple (see photos). The interior back visor is covered in black leather. The front visor is green painted. The helmet is regimentally marked inside front visor (unique to this regiment) “99 G.R. 1. 294 I” for the Saxon Guard Regiment in 1899, 1st Squadron, Number 294 and size 55 inside helmet bell.
This is a rare helmet that is well marked and in near mint condition. A beautiful Saxon Guard Rider EM.
