Hessen Infantry Officer Pickelhaube

Excellent overall condition

Hessen Infantry Officer helmet Model 1897. Black lacquered fiber body with gilded brass metal trim. Helmet has perfect form and firm stitching. The exterior finish show some age crazing but overall in nice condition. No extra holes in the helmet body. The interior has a brown leather officer sweat liner and beige silk headliner in excellent condition with no flaws. Interior has the maker label toward the front of "Prima Qualitat" sized "55". Rest of the wearer name also appears on a label inside.

Front plate is the fire gilded Hessen rampant Lion that is held to body with screws and nuts. The plate has about 100% of its original finish and is beautiful. Hessen style crossed spike base with fluted spike that unscrews to adapt a trichter. Base held to helmet with round studs. Convex chinscales on rosettes. Officer Reichs and Officer non-serrated Hessen cockades. Outstanding helmet that is uncleaned and untouched. Beautiful example of a Hessen Officer helmet.
