Regimentally Marked.

$1 450.00

Royal Saxon 100th Life Guard Regiment Enlisted style spiked helmet Model 1895. Black lacquered leather helmet body with German silver metal trim. The helmet body has good form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer shows some minor age and crazing. No extra holes in the helmet body. The interior of the helmet has a black leather enlisted style headliner. The leather liner is complete and supple but also crazed with age. The inner visors are plain leather with legible marks "100 R. 96" and another date of "1888". On the other side "1.B" and "1.C" and "1898".

The front plate is a German Silver Saxon with Brass center piece - The "O" for the "Osang" Maker spamped behind the plate.   Frontplate held to body with leather wedge retainers. Note: one prong was loose and repaired. Enlisted style spike and base with the spike being removable to allow for a plume trichter for parade (Note that the spike is the proper type, but removing it gently is quite hard, we did not want to force the issue). Spike base held into place with round domed retainers. Leather chinstrap is a later replacement. Special Saxon style Non-Serrated Reichs and Saxon EM style cockades. Outstanding and Classic silver trimmed Saxon Elite Guard helmet.
