Shows splendid age being untouched, uncleaned and 100% original
Saxe-Thuringian 94th and 153rd Infantry Regiments Officer Model 1897. Uncleaned - Straight out of an old collection. Black lacquered leather body with round front visor and gilt trim. Leather body has excellent form and full stitching. Exterior lacquer in excellent shape with one small 5mm chip in lacquer on left side of helmet above state cockade (see photo). No extra holes in helmet body. Interior has officer sweat leather and silk headliner. Interior visors are colored red and green. Round officer spike base retained by 4 gold and topped with a tall removable spike.
Frontplate is the Prussian Line style Eagle with the Banner "Mit Gott fur Furst und Vaterland". On the eagle breast is a highly vaulted frosted Silver Star with the Arms of Saxony in the center. Frontplate left deep marks in leather as can be seen in pictures and is without doubt original to this helmet. The front plate and helmet retaining stars are affixed to helmet with split brad retainers. We have NOT removed the front plate as we do not wish to break the brads. Tall officer spike and base. Original officer cockades (Reichs and Green-Silver Thuringian) mounted underneath flat gilt chinscales and rosettes. Great period helmet. Shows splendid age being untouched, uncleaned and 100% original. Beautifully "salty". Rare Regimental helmet.
