Prussian Train Battalion Officer for Line Regiments Model 1897. The Train Battalions brought all the war material to the front line soldiers. Helmet is in a near MINT condition. Beautiful black lacquered helmet body with fine Fire Gilded trim. Overall trim totally matching in quality and condition with 100% gold finish remaining. Helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer has bright finish and is in mint condition. Frontplate is the Prussian Line Regiments eagle in fine gold. No extra holes in helmet body.

Officer spike top that unscrews and round base with pearl ring & screw star retainers. Interior sweat leather in tan calfskin with beautiful light beige silk headliner that shows minimal wear. Interior of helmet has special “plume support” that is connected to the split brads of the rosettes. We see this in only the finest quality helmets (see photo).  Rounded chinscales on rosettes as the Train Battalions wear mounted troops. Officer Style 2-piece Reich and Prussian cockades. Overall a beautiful helmet of a rare unit as the Train Battalions had fewer troops. Very hard to find in this condition.
