Outside of Tschapka "Stone Mint"
Prussian Line Uhlan Regiments Tschapka for Enlisted Man Model 1915. Beautiful black lacquered leather helmet body with bright black enameled EM style mortar board that is removable for Model 1915. All metal trim is M1915 field gray. Helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer finish in near MINT condition finish is bright. No extra holes in helmet body. Inside the helmet bell is the maker stamp "Alexander Dahl- Barmen" and the date 1915. Helmet interior has undyed flat tabbed leather liner. Leather liner is complete but a bit fragile with slight tears and discoloration due to age.
Mortar board in perfect shape and has remained in proper position (not tilted). Black enamel finish is near mirror like. Black and white cloth field badge shows age. Top cap be easily removed by twisting at base. Prussian Line Eagle in field gray color and held into place with original leather wedges. Original leather chinstrap on M91 side lugs. Single EM style Reichs cockade. Except for leather liner, everything about this helmet is in near perfect condition. Does not have Regimental issue stamps so I assume this helmet is one of the WAR BOND helmets that came to the US in 1919. Beautiful Line Regiments Uhlan helmet that is seldom seen in the US. We usually find Guard Uhlans without front star. Beautiful helmet for a wartime display.
