Prussian Garde Infantry Enlisted Pickelhaube
Helmet looks like it was classic arsenal refitting
Prussian Guard Infantry Regiment Enlisted man Model 1897 circa 1915. Unusual helmet but this is how we found it! Black lacquered leather helmet body with brass trim. Body has excellent form and firm stitching. Interior has standard EM style leather that appears to have been re-dyed black. Interior visors natural but the markings have been blacked out. There are extra holes in helmet body that have been punched right next to the original holes with grommets. Enlisted style Guard eagle with silver Guard Star. Frontplate held to body with "loops" and leather wedges. Distinct impression of guard eagle in the helmet leather. Round spike base with spike that is not removable. Original leather chinstrap and EM style stamped Reich and Prussian cockades. Helmet looks like it was classic arsenal refitting. Helmets from the fallen or discarded pieces were returned to a refitting unit where they were repaired and re-issued to replacement troops. All front line troops wore field covers, the helmets often did not match the perfect regulations of pre-war units. All original parts. Bargain priced.
