Prussian 7th Grenadier Regiment (Grenadier Regt. King Wilhelm I -2nd West Prussian) Enlisted Man Model 1897. Untouched and unpolished EM helmet. Black lacquered leather helmet body with brass trim. Leather helmet body has excellent form with firm stitching. Black leather tongue liner that is still supple. Helmet body has no extra holes. No markings evident in helmet. Frontplate is the wide winged Prussian Grenadier Eagle with the banner "22 Marz 1797" on the lower center of the eagle. The date commemorates the birthday of King Wilhelm I of Prussia (later Kaiser Wilhelm I of Imperial Germany). Frontplate held to helmet body with leather wedges.
Round brass spike base with spike that is removable for replacement with a plume for parade. Flat brass chinscales M1895 on M1891 side lugs. Reichs and Prussian 2-piece NCO style cockades. Extremely rare regimental helmet. 100% original and untouched helmet. Uncommon find in todays collector marketplace.
