Hessen Wartime Model 1915 Pickelhaube with Rare Cover
Another Salty Wartime Helmet - Used in Combat
Hessen RIR 118 Infantry enlisted man Model 1915 with tan field cover. Great wartime era helmet. Helmet has a great history as it has been arsenal re-worked from a pre-war helmet (black dyed liner) to a wartime field gray helmet. Black Lacquered Helmet body in very good form and firm stitching. Inside helmet body are 2 arsenal sealed holes (see photos). Black leather EM style liner. Back visor has numerous markings, one seems to be "RIR 118" (SEE PHOTO).
All metal trim is field gray. Special Hessen style equilateral crossed base without spike top. This was proper for front line use in 1915. Hessen front plate with both original leather wedges to hold it mounted on Arsenal Grometed holes. No extra holes beyond the arsenal sealed holes. Original leather chinstrap. EM style Reichs and non-serrated Hessen cockades. Helmet is covered by a Model 1915 EM style cloth field cover with vents for chinstrap. Cloth cover has stamps inside (see photos). Cover show age and use with small tears around the chinstrap vent. This is an amazing Hessen style Model 1915 helmet and cover. Extremely rare find in today's market. A genuine wartime used helmet from a rare until.
