Hessen Reserve Infantry Officer Pickelhaube

Hessen Line Infantry Regiment Reserve Officer, Model 1897. From an old collection. Beautiful black lacquered helmet body with fine fire gilt trim. Helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is in near mint condition with no lacquer loss. No extra holes in helmet body. Inside helmet has officer style sweat leather with original brown silk headliner (see photos). Inner visors are colored red and green. All metal trim is fine fire gilt and has not been polished.

Special Hessen style equilateral crossed base with tall Hessen style fluted spike top. Hessen front plate is the Hessen rampant Lion with silver Reserve cross with the banner "Gott Ehre Vaterland". Frontplate affixed to the helmet body with bent down pin bacls. Hessen style slightly rounded gold chinscales on rosettes. Officer style Reichs and non-serrated Hessen cockades. This is a genuine Hessen Rserve Officer helmet that is in very nice condition. Extremely rare find in today's market. Beautiful display helmet.
