Hessen 115th Leib-Infantrie Enlisted Pickelhaube
A Rare Regimental Helmet with Beautiful Markings

Hessen 115th Life Guard Infantry Regt. (1st Grand Ducal Hessen Regt.) - Enlisted Man Model 1897. Black lacquered helmet body with German silver trim. Helmet has good form and firm stitching. Near mint exterior finish with no cracks or flaws. There are no extra holes behind frontplate (see photos). Helmet interior has leather EM style headliner. The Interior visors are natural leather with the "JR115" markings in the back visor along with remnants of a name penciled.
The German silver metal trim has not been polished. The front plate is the Grand Ducal double wreath Lion with flat EM style Star of Hessen on the breast. Over frontplate and underneath the front leg of the spike base is the metal banner "1621" commemorating the founding date of the regiment. Hessen style crossed spike base topped by an EM style fluted removable spike and secured to helmet body with round domed retainers. Hessen style metal plume support inside helmet bell to support spike base. EM leather chinstrap on M91 side lugs. EM stamped one-piece Reichs and Non-Serrated Hessen cockades. A rare regimental helmet that would be a great addition to any collection.
