Hessen 115th Leib-Garde Infantry Officers Pickelhaube
Rare helmet in imaculate condition.
115th Hessen Leib-Garde Infantry Regiment Officers helmet Model 1897. Rare Officers helmet from the Life-Guard Infantry Regiment of the Grand Duke of Hessen. Elegant leather helmet that has all silver metal trim. The helmet body has excellent form and firm stitching. Exterior finish is still shiny with no cracking or lacquer loss. Interior has colored inner visors. Inside has officer style brown sweat leather and brown ribbed silk headliner.
Hessen style crossed spike base with silver star retainers. The spike throat has no ornamentation which typical for Hessen officer helmets. Tall Hessen style fluted spike. Hessen frontplate is still "frosty" silver with polished edges. Frontplate has a central rampant Lion surrounded by double laurel and oak leaf wreath. The center of the frontplate has the star of the Hessen House Order, finely enameled. Above the frontplate is the bandeau "1621", for the founding date of the regiment. Flat silver chinscales mounted on silver rosettes. Complete with both officer style cockades. Helmet is only lightly worn. Rare helmet in imaculate condition.
