German model 1916 Steel Helmet

M1916 Model steel helmet. Classic first pattern German Steel "Coal Scuttle" helmet from 1916. No dents to be found on the helmet bell. Exterior color is dark green. No rusting of damage noted. Complete with M1916 3 pad liner on leather band. Pads still retain interior horse-hair filling. Band has shrunk a little with age (see photos). Chinstrap lugs but no chinstrap. Stamp mark inside right side of helmet "W 66". Fancy handwritten name inside back skirt "H. Knopf" (not sure 100% of last name as fancy old German handwriting hard to read). Another "Doughboy" Souvenir from the Great War. Overall fine piece that is named to the soldier wearer.
