Carboard base covered with brown "Velour". Leather top and Visor with green underlay. The Inside lining is still supple and has remnants of the gilt suroundings in the leather "Doré au Fer" typical to officers headgear. Silvered Officers type chinscales stamped out in one piece and mounted on velour and leather and held by a "Chasseur" Horn "Bosette" to the Shako's body. Note a small period repair to the left scale near the bosette.

The Front Emblem is a Silvered Rooster -"Coq Gaulois"- standing on a Globe and surounded by oak and laurel leaves. French National Cocarde and Red "Pompon"
