Tall brass helmet shell in excellent condition with some minor dents (see pictures). Original "fake" leopard skin bandeau/turban attached in back with the original string. Beautiful issue markings in the back of shell Matricule "270" and Issue Date "55" for 1855. And the initial issue Matricule that was scratched out. Tall cimier in brass held by 5 screws with its "Marmouset" and Black Horsehair brush. Long black horse tail to the back of the cimier that appears to be original to helmet. This tail was to prevent from deep sword wounds as well as to deflect them.

Inside lining is complete and show wear and tear...but original to this helmet. Both visors bear the original leather "basane" lining. An original helmet in quite pristine condition for its age. Assumingly participated in the campaigns of Napoleon III.
