Bavarian Leib Garde (Lifeguard) Infantry or Pioneer Battalion Officer Model 1897 Black lacquered leather helmet body iwith Bright Silver trim. Square front helmet body with perfect form and firm stitching. The helmet lacquer is in perfect shape with no crazing. No extra holes in the helmet body. Standard sweat leather and silk headliner in near mint condition. Silk is stained at one side probably to obscure wearers name.

Visors colored red back and green front. Fine large silver frontplate secured by split brads. The helmet has Bavarian style crossed spike base (no star on front leg of base) with shorter fluted spike that unscrews. 3 large silver star retainers that have looped screws. Flat silver chinscales over Officers Cockades (Reichs and Bavarian) maintained by rosettes. Fine Bavarian silver trimmed helmet for an Elite Regiment. Excellent and beautiful helmet.
