Baden 14 Train Abteilung (established-1864 Hdq. Durlach) Reserve Reserve Officer Model 1897. Out of the woodwork find. Total untouched and uncleaned. Black lacquered leather helmet body with gilted brass trim. Helmet body has good form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer has some age related crazing on the right side but not lacquer loss. Otherwise the finish is still shiny. Back leather visor slightly turned in from poor storage. No extra holes in helmet body. Interior has sweat leather and silk headliner both in good shape. Interior visors colored rad and green as is proper for an officer. Front plate is the Baden Griffen with pierced crown and no motto on the bottom banner with is proper for a Reserve front plate. On Griffen's chest is the Landwehr cross bearing the motto "Mit Gott fur Furst und Vaterland" which is proper for Baden. Officer spike and base with star retainers. Extremely tall officer spike (removable). Rounded gold chinscales on rosettes which are proper for the mounted Train Abteilung. Serrated Reichs officer cockade with non serrated gold/red Baden officer cockade. Large sized helmet. Genuine soldier WWI souvenir. A Nice helmet that is original and has never been touched.
