Body has excellent form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer trim in excellent condition. Full black leather EM tongued liner that is still supple. Marked on back visor "RBA 18" or Reserve Bekleidigungsamt 18 (Army Corp). This mark was used after the expansion of the army in 1914 and proper for the 115th LGIR helmet. Other side of back visor name or markings scratched out. Inside helmet bell is the makers stamp "Martin Mayer - Mainz - 1915". No extra holes in helmet body. All silver metal trim.
Front plate is the Hessen Lion with double wreath and the Hessen Guard star in the center. Above front plate is a banner with the date "1621" to commemorate the founding date of the regiment. Crossed spike base with EM Hessen style fluted spike. Standard leather chinstrap with silver buckles over M91 post. Original enlisted style serrated Prussian and Hessen non-Serrated cockades. All original helmet that has not been cleaned or polished. Rare Hessen Life Guard Regiment. A genuine marked WWI historical piece.
