Bavarian Reserve Officer Model 1896 circa 1916. Beautiful black fiber helmet body with gilded metal trim. Helmet body has perfect form and firm stitching. Interior has ersatz (canvas) sweatband and silk headliner. Silk has small tears. Inner visors colored red and green as is proper for officer. No extra holes in helmet body. Metal trim is magnetic but has been gilded as was commonly done during WWI. Gilding is in very good condition. Cross spike base with 3 star retainers and one small rounded stud in front leg. Spike removes at bottom of base by unscrewing (see photos). Spike does not unscrew for plume attachment.
Bavarian Reserve officer plate with silver Landwehr star. Small cross on top of left Lion has been broken off. Half rounded chinscales on rosettes. In 1916 all Bavarian officers began wearing rounded chinscales so we cannot properly identify the unit. Officer Reichs and Bavarian cockades. Bavarian cockade is the 1916 style that is not enameled. Beautiful Wartime era Bavarian helmet. Outstanding condition inside and out.
