Unusual WWI era helmet!! This helmet is a Model 1895 pattern Prussian Enlisted Man that is marked to the 8th Jaeger zu Pferde Regt. Standard black leather helmet body with brass trim. Helmet body has excellent shape with good form and firm stitching. All brass metal trim with original chinstrap and cockades. Marked inside left back visor "Jg. R. z. Pf. 8" and the "1916" . Except for illegible maker stamp inside helmet bell, there are no other markings inside helmet.
We speculate that the 8th JzP did not have enough pre-war helmets so they opted for use of existing helmet stocks. This is an interesting companion to another helmet we are offering that is a green painted stamped steel kurassier style helmet that is also marked to the 8th JzP. Both helmets are interesting examples of WWI era use of military headgear. Helmet is all original inside and out. Rare WWI collectible>
