Prussian Model 1842 Dragoon Officer Pickelhaube - Zu Parade.

Prussian Line Dragoon Officer first model Pickelhaube “To Parade” Model 1842. Extremely rare helmet recently found. Tall and black lacquered leather helmet body (small "dent" in the back of leather - see pictures) with heavy gilded brass trim. Helmet has perfect form and firm stitching. No extra holes in helmet body. Large square cut front visor trim. Officer style crossed spike base with officer style pearl and diamond ring around spike base. In place of spike, the helmet is mounted with a fancy plume trichter on which is placed a black horse hair plume for parade use. The plume length extends to the edge of the sewn area of the front visor. Such a trichter and plume is rarely seen in the collector market. Spike base affixed to helmet body with gold stars.

Long officer style back spine. The frontplate is the gilded Prussian Dragoon Eagle. The frontplate is held to the helmet with three screws on the back. The interior of the helmet has the old-style black leather flat tabbed leather liner. The liner is complete and still supple. The back visor is cover with bright red leather and the front visor with green leather. Large rounded chinscales mounted to helmet wth a brass rosette pieced by a stemmed screw. Large non-serrated Silver and black Prussian officer cockade on the right side under the chinscale.
The helmet is in Excellent condition inside and out in spite of the fact that this helmet is nearly 200 years old.

Age of Kings has been has been actively selling Imperial German Militaria for over 20 years. In all our selling/collecting years we have never seen a Model 1842 Dragoon Officers helmet in the collector’s market. Please note that this is a RARE piece.
