Saxon Infantry Reserve Officers Pickelhaube
Model 1897 for Reserve Officers
Black lacquered leather body with glit trim. Overall condition of leather shell remains quite good with some minor age flaws but no cracks or else. Front visor slightly loose, back visor remains firmly stitched. Inside lining is of full officers grade with calf skin sweatband, but missing its silk. Gilt round spike base with oficers spkie that unscrews on top retained by four gilt stars.
The front plate is the three piece Saxon starburst, Reserve cross and the silver coat of arms, maintained by two nuts. No extra holes. Nice set of gilt flat chinscales held by rosettes over the proper type/model Saxon and Reichs cockades. Dating from the late 1890's to the early 1900's when the visor was switched to a semi-square type, this pickelhaube remains in excellent overall condition.
