Saxon Field Artillery Enlisted Pickelhaube
An outstanding example of a helmet that was undoubtedly born this way
Saxon Field Artillery Enlisted model 1895. Black lacquered leather body with round front visor and gold trim. Helmet has excellent - near MINT- form and firm stitching. Exterior lacquer is in excellent+ condition with some crazing to the visors as usual. Interior has an EM style leather lining in very nice condition, still supple. Backspine is the correct type without ventholes, and some small dings.
Frontplate is the Saxon Wappen (made and marked by Osang) with both leather wedges missing. Back visor stamped "A. 77" or "A.78" difficult to make out. Round spike base with 4 split brads at the spike base. Gold round ball-top that unscrews for a Haarbush during Parade, note that there is a small ding in the its back. NO extra holes in helmet body. Rounded Chinscales on M91 Posts, original Saxon and Reichs Cockades. An outstanding example of a helmet that was undoubtedly born this way!
